What is Medical Microdermabrasion?

Medical Microdermabrasion utilizes a controlled vacuum mechanism to suspend fine, medical-grade crystals that gently exfoliate the skin. This process effectively removes 2-5 layers of dead skin cells, reducing build-up and promoting lymphatic drainage to eliminate toxins. It also enhances blood circulation, ensuring better oxygenation and nutrient delivery to the skin, resulting in a rejuvenated and healthier appearance.

This treatment is virtually pain-free, causing minimal discomfort, and requires little to no recovery time. It is exceptionally safe and suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone, congested, oily, dry, and patchy skin conditions, making it a versatile option for various skin concerns.

Did you know that Medical Microdermabrasion is not limited to facial treatments? We also offer treatments for other areas such as the neck, chest, and back, areas often overlooked in skincare routines.

What can Medical Microdermabrasion target?

Initial Consultation

Once the skin is cleansed and prepared for your Medical Microdermabrasion treatment, our skilled practitioners will gently pass the handpiece over the skin to remove dead skin cells from the surface. The treatment is entirely pain-free, requiring no local anesthesia. Many clients describe the sensation as similar to a faint scratching sensation on the skin.

During the session, extractions can be performed if necessary. Typically, the treatment lasts between 30 to 45 minutes. For enhanced results, consider our advanced exfoliating crystal-free tip, available in silver or gold, which targets stubborn dry patches, pigmentation issues, smooths fine lines, or helps reduce superficial scars. Additionally, our Bio-cellulose masks can be added to your treatment for an immediate hydration boost and cooling relief, ideal even for sensitive skin. These masks contain anti-inflammatory ingredients that reduce redness and soothe while delivering peptides to nourish the skin.

After Medical Microdermabrasion Treatment

After the treatment, it is essential to follow the skincare regimen recommended by your therapist. Avoid cleansing your skin that evening and refrain from wearing makeup on the treated area. Depending on your skin type and specific concerns, a series of treatments at our Kensington or Wimbledon clinics is often recommended to achieve optimal results.

After your Medical Microdermabrasion treatment, you may notice temporary side effects such as redness, tightness, peeling, flaking, or dryness for about 3-7 days. It's crucial not to pick or pull at any flaking skin during this time.

For the next two weeks following treatment, avoid sun exposure, fake tan application, IPL treatments, and chemical peels. Refrain from using hair removal methods or exfoliators on the treated area for seven days. Additionally, for the first two days post-treatment, avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, and hot showers to ensure the skin heals properly.
