What is Fordyce Cyst?

Fordyce cysts, also known as Fordyce spots or Fordyce granules, are small, painless, pale or white-yellowish bumps that typically appear on the lips, inside the cheeks, or on the genitalia. They are ectopic sebaceous glands, meaning they are sebaceous glands that are located in unusual places where there are no hair follicles. Fordyce cysts are harmless and non-infectious, posing no significant health risk.

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, our dermatologist will conduct a thorough examination of the affected areas to confirm the presence of Fordyce cysts.

This involves a visual inspection of the skin and a review of your medical history to rule out any underlying conditions. The dermatologist will discuss any symptoms you may be experiencing, such as discomfort or cosmetic concerns, and provide information about the nature of Fordyce cysts.

They will also discuss treatment options if necessary and answer any questions you may have.

After Treatment

If treatment is deemed necessary, options may include laser therapy, micro-punch surgery, or topical treatments. After treatment, it is important to keep the treated area clean and avoid irritation. You may need to apply prescribed topical medications to aid healing. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to monitor the healing process. Our goal is to ensure your comfort and satisfaction, addressing both the aesthetic and any potential physical concerns associated with Fordyce cysts.
