What is Intralesional Injection?

Intralesional injection is a medical procedure where medication is directly injected into a lesion or specific area of the skin. This technique is commonly used to treat various dermatological conditions, including Alopecia Areata, keloids, Acne Scars, and Stretch Marks. By delivering the medication directly to the affected area, intralesional injections can provide targeted treatment, often resulting in faster and more effective outcomes compared to systemic treatments.

Keloids are raised, thickened areas of scar tissue that extend beyond the original wound boundaries. They result from an overproduction of collagen during the healing process and can be itchy or painful.

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss in round patches on the scalp and other areas of the body. It occurs when the immune system wrongly targets hair follicles.

During the treatment, the area is cleaned and sterilized to prevent infection. A fine needle is used to inject medication such as corticosteroids, antibiotics, or other therapeutic agents directly into the lesion or affected area.
