What is Age Spots?

Age spots, also known as liver spots or solar lentigines, are flat, darkened areas of skin that appear due to prolonged sun exposure or aging. They are typically brown, black, or gray and are commonly found on sun-exposed areas like the face, hands, shoulders, and arms. Age spots are a result of excess melanin production, which is triggered by UV radiation from the sun. Although age spots are benign and do not need medical treatment, many individuals opt to treat them for aesthetic purposes.

Initial Consultation

Treatments for age spots include methods such as laser therapy, chemical peels, and cryotherapy (freezing). During the procedure, the targeted treatment area is cleaned, and a topical anesthetic may be applied to minimize discomfort. After Treatment

Post-treatment, the treated area may exhibit redness, swelling, or peeling, depending on the method used. These effects are typically temporary and reduce within a few days to a week. It's important to follow the aftercare instructions provided, which usually include applying sunscreen with a high SPF to protect the newly treated skin from UV damage and avoid direct sun exposure. Moisturizers may also be recommended to support the skin's healing process. Some treatments may require multiple sessions to achieve the desired results, and regular follow-up appointments can help assess progress and ensure optimal outcomes.
